Two Seasons

Two Seasons

This was my tenth attempt at painting, which is in itself a small milestone for me as I never really thought I'd ever wind up painting. I had one of the terrible value pack canvases I got at WalMart left (the other one I painted my rendition of "Evergreens at Sunset" on), so I used that. Since there's a big wooden bar going right down the middle, I wanted to put a piece of masking tape on it and do a summer/winter painting. As it turns out, I found that Bob Ross created such a painting after extensive Googling on my part. So, I used that one as a model for this one. This is the first time I was really able to add highlights to my trees properly. I finally figured out how to move away from being a "mud mixer." It was more difficult than it seemed. The paint has to be just the right thinness to stick on the background tree color. Once again, the masking tape wouldn't stick properly, so some paint got under, unfortunately. The canvas is also very difficult to paint on as it is really low quality. Suffice it to say I will not be buying canvases at WalMart anymore.
