At Dawn's Light

flippergirlpaints 09 Feb 2022

Small 9x12 canvas. I still need a new fan brush but I tried these evergreens anyway....they are kind of "meh". Bob uses his new round brush for the foliage on almost the entire painting. I do have one that I used but it is the large size and I struggled to make it work and am less than satisfied with the results. Kind of an "off day" I think in general, but glad I did this one nonetheless.

Well, off day or not, it's a really beautiful painting. It's on my to-paint list, now I kind of can't wait to get to it 😊

Thank you Uma! I look forward to seeing your version!

Nice off day 😀. Sometime pick up a small round brush. I love it and use it for most of my bushes and such. I prefer the effect it makes versus let's say the 1" brush.

Look at it tomorrow again and you like it, I like it already!

Thanks Matt and Jos!
Matt - Where did you get your small round brush? Also I think I am going to get the Kevin hill liner brush you got. Looking for recommendations, thanks!!

I unfortunately use the Bob Ross small round brush. It really does do the best job. However I did switch to the Kevin Hill brand script liner brush (along with a small filbert like brush he makes). You will get much sharper / finer branches and such with his brush.

Really beautiful! I like your bushes...details look great!

Thanks Sandy!
And, Matt, yeah I have been trying to look for alternatives to Ross Inc products. Is that Kevin Hill liner a lot longer than Bob's? It seems to work really well for you, so I will most likely get it.

It is longer than Bob's and took a painting or two to get used to it but once you do it works great

Pam I got a KH liner brush too and I think it’s much better than Bob’s. I think that Matt recommended it but can’t remember who for sure.
