In the Stillness of Morning

In the Stillness of Morning

I had the request to paint a few pictures in very small portrait format measuring 15 x 10 cm. I took this one first as I thought it would fit this format. I think as a first attempt (I usually paint 30 x 40 cm) it is okay. Of course with space for improvement.

That smaller size explains the tree trunks. How was it? How long did it take compare to your standard size? Was it more pleasure to paint smaller size painting? Not many people here do tiny paintings here.

The trunks look really bad at this photo. In reality it looks better. Overall I finished it in around 40 minutes whereas it lasts 2 hours for me to finish my standard size. I found it very funny and I will paint some others in that size.

It is faster. I thought that time will be almost the same due to smaller brushes and higher precision needed when work.

The most time I save is when painting all the background and the undercolor, this goes really fast in that format, Also with the grass I take the same brushes as in the bigger ones. Only other brushes I have used is a small fan brush and a number 1 script liner. I also painted a few ones in 15 x 20 cm some time ago and there it took me already around 15 minutes more.
