Yesterday I sat until late night to finish this one. It’s one of my favorite scenes from the joy of painting. Thus I spent a lot of time with this one. I used ultramarine for the sky, a hint from Sunnylady in one of my earlier paintings, as I don’t like the pure phtalo blue skies with acrylics. And I wanted a rough look for the sky. I think some parts of the painting got a little bit too dark, not sure if the red bushes in the foreground are a good idea. I thought they would somehow be an eye catcher between the green.
Your late night really paid off Tom! Excellent painting with those colours, the shadow work, the about perfect evergreens and stunning bushes! The red bushes are a very good idea, no worries there!
Thanks ThmsBoyd and Voy Kay.
Beautiful painting Tom! Misty distant trees, plush grass in the midground, beautiful flowing water and water lines. Wonderful job!
Thanks Sunnylady. I also think ultramarine as recommended by you is a nice sky color. Also pure, i.e. just mixed with white
I never did ultramarine blue in it's pure state with just white and it is so wonderful that you tried to explore this color in pure. It looks like sky has incredible height! It is great painting!
About ultramarine. It gives absolutely beautiful purples with alizarine crimson.
For the sky. It sounds you tried to mix it with phtalo blue and dull it a bit with brown. What do you think about this interesting complex mixture?
Of course with white to lighten it up.
The proposed mixture sounds very interesting, I think I will give it a try in one of my next paintings.
Looking forward to hear from you!
The depth has been obtained by devising the background.
I haven't painted this work yet.
Did you find something difficult? Well done!
Thanks Jin. I found it very time consuming. The elements of the painting were not too difficult. I practiced them already in a lot of other paintings. I can really recommend to give this one a try.
Your sky and evergreen trees are really great and the distance created too.
Thanks LJMpaintings.
Wonderful painting! You really nailed creating the illusion that the pine forest is vast and seemingly never ending. Great level of detail overall.
Thank you lightsnow.
