Autumn Oval

Tom0779 23 May 2021

14th oil painting. This is rather a fast one to go through. I personally like paintings in earth tones. I think this is a nice scene and warms up every room. I think I am now able to paint tree foliage with the one or two inch brush like Bob does. Even the size of the canvas used here (30 x 40 cm) seems to be the absolute minimum for such a painting.

Very nicely done

Wow, yeah I agree with you, you got foilage nailed down for sure! The fading, the depth, it’s very impressive. Keep painting my friend

Thanks a lot for all the nice comments.

What is your trick to getting the tree foliage done like this? This is such a nice painting.

Hi Antonia_91. Basically there is no trick for the foliage. I learned you have to use very, very much paint and very little pressure as well as you need to load the brush correctly. In this episode I found the procedure very well explained by Bob. And it seems I understood well how he creates the foliage.

Great painting Tom! Absolutely happy you are back to oils! Awesome blending in the sky, great distance created, nice wild forest in front!

Thanks Sunnylady. I have the feeling that I understood now how Bob is creating the foliage on the trees. The size of the canvas seem to be a bit small, even for the 1 inch brush. I still need to work on the shape of the branches, but I think I can learn more from each painting.
