My youngest son requested this one for his home and was explicit about there NOT being a cowboy :( (I like the cowboy, oh well). The hardest things about this painting was the glare from either my window or lighting against the dark. I found myself moving around in all directions to see what I was painting! I put on a generous amount of the crimson on the underlayer to achieve Bob's intense red, but not quite. I think it may be because he did not use liquid clear back then.
In my world there are always more trees. The fire got a little bigger than intended due to a (un) happy accident with the knife doing the logs. Hopefully won't burn down the forest. Better call Smokey the bear.
A bigger fire requires a bigger clearing free of trees and other vegetation and the lack of bushes close around a well used waterhole also occurs. I think you have this well proportioned. Well done.
Thank you both.
Awesome, I can feel the heat from the fire.

I think it turned out great. It really looks like the fire is illuminating the pitch black of the forest. Nicely done
