At Dawn's Light

Tom0779 01 Aug 2021

One of the most popular Bob Ross paintings. So I thought I give it a try too. Especially as there is a "twin" episode, S11E7 which shows almost the same scene in Summertime. So maybe I give that Summer Painting a try too and hang it up next to each other.
I am not a very experienced oil painter, compared to others, but I think it turned out ok somehow.
Took me 3 hours. Canvas size is 40 x 50 cm.

one of my fave Bobs, you did a great job on it!

This came out great!

Yep I think you did a very nice job

Great job.

very pretty. The sky and the water look soft and smooth as glass.

This is lovely Tom, absolutely spot on. Fabulous blending. At Dawn's Light is my favourite, I've done it twice and I could quite happily do it again. I've noticed that several of Bob's paintings have very similar features to this one.

Your colors and blending in sky and water is beautiful and great detail on the pines.

Great painting Tom! Sky blending is nice, also what I see here is that good sky is not pure out of tube and they muted down a bit. This brings calmness to the sky.

Thanks to everyone for your nice feedback. I am happy that this seemed to come out well.

@Sunnylady: I have to say that I didn't mix the sky color with white here. But I use so little color on (my favorite) 1-inch brush. I really pound the color into the bristles (better seen by Steve Ross) and use very little pressure.

To all who didn't know it yet, @Felix added the option to add more pictures to Bob Ross recreations as well. So I added a picture (sorry for the low quality) of the unfinished painting to show this.
