Original Creation

Miniature Quiet Inlet

TheLandscapePainter 12 Sep 2021

Not quite the same as I would have done it full size but I wasn't really expecting anything. It was a challenge and great fun. Oil on a tiny 7cm x 7cm stretched canvas. Suits my miserly style as it uses hardly any paint and clean up takes about 2 minutes.

Very cool! Is the paint knife there just for reference or did you use the knife as your palette?

😳 I shake so much that I would never attempt something so tiny. ( had to give up building models too) It’s great

haha mbbrickner what you said really cracked me up. That must be why they call it a palette knife! I just used it to scratch in a bit of grassy stuff.

Thank you Cronenberg89. I think you need good eyesight too. I find it's the opposite way to normal, you know, when I stand back to see how good my painting looks, but with a tiny painting I zoom in to see how bad it is. I'm sorry you've had to give up your miniature building, but you have done some nice paintings regardless. Floral painting could be something you might be interested in as it benefits from a little shake, especially one stroke painting where you double load the brush, as that technique depends on a bit of a wobble.

Haha! For a painting this small it would make a perfect palette! But yes that makes sense to have used it to add texture and the indication of branches. Very nicely done.
