Fun painting practicing the "line and wash" technique

Tom0779 02 Sep 2020

This is watercolor and fine liner pencil on A5 sized cold pressed watercolor paper. I found this idea on Youtube and took it as practicing idea for my plan to move a bit to urban sketching. I also learned something totally new to me. The cloths were not covered with masking fluid as you would usually do, they were covered with masking tape. A really cool idea and this one was an absolute funny painting.

Brilliant little painting! I'd love to have this one on my wall! Somehow it reminds me some book from childhood, i do not remember the name, neither the plot but somehow this painting is reminds me about cover of that book.

Thanks a lot Sunnylady. I am very pleased that you like this painting that much you would even put it on your wall. In case you really want it I could even send it to you via a letter. Its just an A5 format.

That is a really striking effect. Inspires me to research this idea and to hunt down new techniques.

Thanks Evarawks. You can find these kind of paintings at the YouTube channel of Peter Sheeler. This painting was done after one of his instruction videos.
