House with a view

Tom0779 06 Oct 2020

This is one of my line and wash paintings in A4 size. The painting itself is rather simple, there isn't a lot of drawing but I found the scene funny. That's why I realized this Youtube tutorial. Recently I painted some lonely buildings I think this is one more in that series. Paper is cold pressed from my preferred brand of the cellulose papers, Winsor & Newton.

Good heavens Tom, this is not my favourite type of Bed & breakfast locations!
Although the view must be stunning!!

Great idea and execution of this cliffhanger! As usual, your colours are in full harmony with the whole.

Thanks a lot Voy. Well I would say, this is a special place... No way to lean on fence up there for me :) I already do not feel well when I step up a ladder..

Hahahaha, same for me my friend, anything higher then three meters, I pass by!

That is funny one. It seems like someone who live there always wear a parachute just in case.
I will look at it tomorrow from big screen. I really want to see all those details.

Thanks Sunnylady. This one hasn’t that much details than others. I am currently working on a very complex one. I finished the first drawing today, and did it already with the pen. Now tomorrow I want to color it and afterwards I go again over it with the pen. Maybe I can post it tomorrow or Thursday. It is also A4

As someone who doesn’t like heights I feel anxious just looking at this house. Another job well done but I agree with voy kay - not staying here!

a very interesting piece!
I have to say the mountain is a little too simple and regular for my taste, but I can see where you are coming from with this one.
It's probably a tough decision on how minimal to go with the mountain so that it does not distract from the house, which is obviously the star of this painting.

Thank you Lilikins, I feel the same like you :)

@Felix: Yes thanks, I know that user. Well this s how the tastes are different and how everyone sees scenes like he does. To me a more detailed mountain would ruin the composition as well as a more colorful sky would.
My opinion is as follows: If you include a e.g. a building then this is the center of interest and everything else must go into the background. It is just to fill up the page. This (almost no details and very simple) is also important to achieve dept, at least same important as to reduce the color in the background.
I create most of my paintings I post here after YouTube tutorials, but I often reduce the background even more than the painters I follow do. But as said, it is my personal preference. There is no right or wrong I guess.
