Original Creation

Some time ago I made a series of loose watercolor paintings regarding reflections like this one. They are made with sort of a "dry in wet technique" and to finish one it is just a matter of minutes.
This is what I like on watercolors, you can make it more loose than in any other medium.

Nice painting Tom!

You are a pro with watercolors!

Thanks a lot Sunnylady. I wouldn´t consider myself as a pro in watercolor, I would say a very beginner :)

Sunnylady Community Darling

Ok let's say very advanced beginner :)

Thank you... You really deserve the tagline :)

Not many people post water colors here. We did not hear long time from watercolor artist (bob_ross_watercolors) who loves painting mountains, I hope she is fine with all this corona stuff.

I think water colors are very difficult to handle even more difficult than acrylics. But your opinion is totally opposite. Isn't it interesting?!

You saw couple of my creations with water colors I must tell they were not easy. The worst for me was waiting for bottom layers to dry and I used hair-drier to speed it up as it was interrupting my creativity. I did not get used to it.

Waiting for more watercolors from you, Tom!

Ah I understand, sorry I did not want to give the impression that I think watercolor is easy, I totally agree with you that its more difficult than any other medium.
What I wanted to say when I say loose is that you can paint just easier when it gets to a schema to follow. You cannot plan them totally it sometimes gets its own life. Yes sometimes you need to dry the coat of color, sometimes you don´t. You can create wonderful paintings, especially such as semi abstract landscapes.
But I personally prefer more strength in my paintings. That´s why I almost totally quit watercolor paintings, but of course I still have a lot of them I did not share. I have read somewhere where an artist was staying: If you can paint in watercolors then you can paint in any other medium. I don´t know if this is really true but somehow when I start an acrylics or an oil painting I am never afraid I can ruin it just by one little error. In watercolor I still have that feeling.

Aaaaaah. I see.

For me word "painting loose" when everything easy and flows and movements are free meaning probably as well good back up of the experience. Most important not to be afraid of the mistake and make those mistakes with joy.

I think those words of an artist make sense as watercolor need more precision and technicality.

Yes totally agree. I can remember he said also the other way round is not possible. But I don´t think so. At least every watercolor you start with a concrete plan, you will soon see that it takes over and the plan does not work :)
