Original Creation

Stay at home for Christmas

Tom0779 06 Dec 2020

This one came from my imagination, of course using the technique I learned from wonderful artists like Peter Sheeler or Nil Rocha. I think it is important that people now should think about staying at home for Christmas 2020, even it is not easy. It is the season to visit relatives and for some celebration for a lot of people all over the world....
I hope someone enjoys this painting. @Colin Hudson: feel free to use this one for your purpose. I finished it a few minutes ago and the photo wasn't taken at daylight. I will add a second photo tomorrow. I think the colors might be different then.

Great painting Tom! Fantastic to see an original from you, really well done!

I hope you can follow this up next year with a version where only one of the houses has the lights on, but double the people inside 😊

Hey Tom.. I'm watching these with interest since I just got a nice set of watercolors on closeout due to the package being smashed.. the tubes were in fine shape :D Now I need to get in and try them out.. this is the perfect motivation!

Tom - thank you for your wonderful submission, great work. As Felix suggests, you can just paint out the lights in one of the houses next year. Not really cheating....

Wonderful job Tom! I like to imagine that each neighbor helped decorate their side of the tree (at different times or safely distanced apart of course) to help bring the Christmas cheer together.

Thanks Felix, nice idea for the next years painting. I hope it reflects the truth then.

@wybnormal: I recommend you to practice a bit with watercolors. They act totally different than oils do. But with some practice it shouldn't be an issue. Most important is the paper quality.

@Colin: Cheers. I am happy to give something for this project. BTW: I uploaded a second photo from the painting which I took by daylight. It reflects the real colors much better than the other picture does.

@Lilikins: Thanks for your feedback. I am happy you like this one.

Hi - did you read my request to allow the Hospices to use your work all year round rather than just for Christmas cards as, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, they were unable to create the website in time? Can you let me know if you agree to the changes or I cannot use your work without your permission.

Many thanks - Colin

Colin, it is fine for me to use this one for your purpose.

Congratulations Tom!

Much to my surprise, I never commented on this one so for sure, this has past by in the tsunami of creations without me noticing it! Sorry pal!

Thanks to everyone for your feedback & support. I am really surprised that it is possible with a watercolor painting to get enough votes for a top submission. This makes me really glad, because I think watercolors are a totally underrated medium on this site.
