Original Creation

Vintage urban street

Tom0779 25 Jan 2021

I did this one in two sessions last weekend. It was really time consuming. Toughest part is the car. My biggest problem with vehicles are the wheels, to get them look right isn't easy. Else it is a scene with a lot of buildings and a lot of coloring work.
I like old American (Gangster) Movies, so I took this one in bigger format. I think it is a nice idea to paint the car and the person only in gray tones. Makes it look like they are taken from an old black and white movie.
Paper: Winsor & Newton, cold pressed , cellulose. Format: A4.
Idea is from a YouTube video. Technique is line and wash.

Car is great but here I think the houses stand out with great details, colors and shadow! One could almost hear that fire truck passing by, opposite the street!

Very cool!

Your creations are truly stunning! Great talent. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful technique as this picture has transported me back to another time period. Love the car.

Oh gosh Tom, just when I think you have outdone yourself, you manage it again!

Thanks a lot for all your feedback.
@Boja: There are a lot of existing tutorials for this technique on YouTube. You can search e.g. for Peter Sheeler. His tutorials made me start painting in this technique.

Great details, love it!
