This is an other line and wash painting I finished today. Format is A4, cold pressed watercolor paper. Beside the fine liner only two colors were used, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna. I found this one quit time consuming.
Thank you Jin. This is a very popular color combination i watercolor. The two colors make all kinds of gray tones, you can make it to the brownish or the blueish side. And the gray isn't that dark then e.g. paynes gray.
Absolutely amazing painting Tom! Barn and water tower(?) are awesome! this combination of line art and flowing texture of watercolors combine great together!
You are so right about using harmony scheme of brown and blue and all shades in the middle . I think you did great tonal work here to bring volume and distance.
Thank you very much Sunnylady. This building is a Silo. You are right the combination of pen/fine liner and watercolor seem to fit together very well. Furthermore I think I can do some urban scenes (which I aim to do) with exactly this style. Even I love nature, when it goes to painting I like to illustrate buildings. I know Felix is interested to see such scenes but I am not sure if anyone else likes them.
