I like to paint skies in watercolors. They are very effective there. This one is a winter scene which is funny to do with watercolors because you just leave the snow parts as the blank white paper.
Thanks a lot Voy. I am not unhappy with this one. Especially the sky turned out to be okay, which is always a challenge in watercolor and you can never tell which direction it clearly devlops.
I must admit I never tried watercolours before. My daughter has and she is not too wild about it. I will stick to oil, pencils and markers I think, that is more my field.
But I am always happy to taste your creations!
Oh my... you opened something new to me Tom!
White snow is just absence of pigment! I knew that with Watercolors you have to work hard to preserve white, but i did not think about this in context of painting snow.
Here now I share my commitment that after I finish my big seascape (which I procrastinating with, bad-bad me!) I will do one more attempt with watercolors. I have only 3 soft brushes: 2 smalls from kids sets (squirrel) and 1 I got for blending for oil (goat). I think it should be enough.
Well Sunnylady I am glad to hear that you plan to paint some watercolors. I have mainly followed the Art Instructor Frank Clarke. You can find him on YouTube. This is the URL to his introduction video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnaC1Vfk_RY&t=1211s into watercolors. He is only using 3 brushes and 8 colors and I use the same colors and a similar equipment (1 also have 1 squirrel hair brush). A lot of my watercolor paintings (also this one) have been created by following his videos. I am not sure if you like this style of painting. I learned the basics in watercolor very fast by following him. Within 1 month I was able to paint pictures which didn´t look too bad.
In case you need anything more just let me know.
Thanks for the link! I'm already watching it to distract from my very stressful day at work :)
Thanks for your support!

Well done Tom!
How about this video ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTbBlGdODX8&t=111s
He is very popular watercolor artist.
Thanks for your comments Sunnylady and Jin. @Sunnylady: I personally like the style Frank Clarke teaches. Thanks for the Carrot video :D
Other watercolor artists on YouTube I have followed: Umberto Rossini, Uffe Boesen and Gary Tucker.
@Jin: Thanks a lot for providing the video. Indeed I watched some of the clips of this artist. Maybe I even followed a painting of him, I can´t remember right now.
I checked both videos! Thanks for sharing gentlemen!
Forgive me but I am going to look at the snow as sand because I do not like winter. That being said, it's a darn good painting. 😉
Thank you Froggie, the good thing on painting winter is that you can finish the painting ver fast :)

Clouds are very impressive and I love that higher ridge with its shadows!
Till next one Tom.
