This was painted from a photograph. It is a gift for a friend who is leaving the country as a memento of London and a reminder of an important chapter in her life. This is painted in oils on a 40" x 32" canvas. This was definitely a challenge and took around 20 hours to complete.
What an awesome sky! This is wonderful.
Looks amazing! Iām sure your friend loved it!
Thanks PB - had to work out the best way to paint the detail on the buildings. In the end the best result was from loading a 1 inch flat brush and getting a chisel edge. The knife was putting a little too much paint down.
Thanks Cronenberg and Lilikins. I haven't showed it to her yet - we have a going away party on Saturday so fingers crossed!
Fantastic work! You are doing very fast improvement steps recently.
Thanks Tom. This was great for practising perspective, and also composition. I have been watching some great tutorials on composition from Ian Roberts.

Oh my, this is fantastic detailing with oils! nice perspective control and wonderful choice of colors so it looks like a warm nice summer evening!
Beautiful swirling water effect and great reflections. Love the tidal eddies with the tide coming in.
Thanks you Pietro.
Thanks SunnyLady, the sky is actually very similar to the photograph and was perfect to draw the observer to Big Ben.
Thanks Colin, I am glad you like it.
