Is there a good resource to determine a general level of difficulty to Bob's paintings? As a newbie, I often use this site's wonderful search engine to come up with ideas and inspirations. However, it sometimes becomes quite frustrating when I start in on a painting and then realize halfway through that it is way above my pay grade. I've seen YouTube videos, subreddits and the like that might list the hardest or easiest to Top 10, but nothing very extensive and obviously that "difficulty" is subjective. It would be nice to have something that categorizes maybe just Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert. Is there something like this out there or could it be incorporated in the TIB search parameters? My wife tells me all the time how great I am at wasting people's time so I obviously nominate someone else to do this task.

I can't answer your question here Vietti , whilst i rarely paint following Bobs tutorials anymore i sympathise with your thoughts here. I always struggled to follow seascapes and gave up on them pretty quickly, as for Bobs landscape tutorials i found it easier to simply copy the end result rather than follow step by step , i know Bob always says he doesn't encourage copying but once you master Bobs technique which is the key to achieving a good likeness you may no longer feel the need to paint along step by step, plus it allows the opportunity to add a bit of "you" to the painting.
I reached this conclusion pretty quickly after getting frustrated constantly pausing the video every two minutes 😆

I'll think about this for a few days and if an automated solution would be possible, or if I can think of a community-oriented solution for that.

Thanks for the input!

tel same here TC. Let me see the final product and I can now figure out how to get approximately there. lol

Felix That would be great Felix. Maybe we could grade the degree of difficulty by rating it from 1-5, 1 being an easy one for beginner and 5 a very advanced one. Just an idea!
