Need some advice....I just finished Golden rays of sunshine and uploaded it here. I followed Bobs instructions from the episode. I even let my grasp dry overnight. I got up this morning and the paint had run! I was very careful not to use too much liquid clear. Any ideas on what happened?
Thanks

As far as I understand it is still too much liquid clear. If you find Voy Kay he had painting that ran off. I think it is still posted under his profile.

I know that many people here actually use the cloth to wipe liquid clear to get just enough left.

If you question whether you have used too much liquid clear when you are finished painting pull it off the easel and lay it flat on its back. Problem solved.

I hate liquid clear. You might try Gamblin solvent free gel as a base coat instead. Works well for me.

Liquid clear is a tricky product. I like it under certain circumstances. It reacts badly ( or good depending on the need) with solvents. It will cause "runs" which I found out the hard way but caught it in time to lay the canvas flat to dry. You need a very, very, very ( did I mention very?) thin coat and even then, I would recommend it only where you need it. My first use of LC was a starscape where I had used gesso for the black background and cleared the entire canvas. Thats was "instructional" lol.. I've used it a few times since with better results.

I started to use the Gamblin gel that Tomi (indicationofart) suggested. It works so much better. Liquid clear is tricky. If I use is, I ALWAYS take a shop towel and wipe it off twice. What ever is left will be just enough.
