Purple Mountain Range

12x16 fresh canvas. First time following along with Bob. Finished in under three hours, but at least an hour of that was watching and rewinding the video. Never really realized how fast he goes.

Used a filbert brush for the pines. Just haven't "made friends" with the fan brush for those. Oh well.

I'm pleased with this rendition. Didn't come out exactly like Bob's, but I'm good with that. Next time, I think I'll use one of his paintings as a guide but not watch the video. See if I can speed things up a bit.

I really like this. Nice job Alex. Are you left handed by any chance?

Thanks, TonyM. Yes. I am left-handed. What gave it away?

I have heard Bob Ross and Bill Alexander say that lefties will generally have the sun coming form the left. The thing that really got me thinking was the layout of the lake and bushes in the front. In my mind, being a righty, I would probably have the water to the right and the bushes to the left. Not sure if that makes sense, but that is what comes to mind when I look at this. Also I can almost feel the slight breeze coming from the left. Now keep in mind that I am a total newbie and really have no idea what I am talking about ;) Once again, very nice job my friend :)

I usually do have the highlights on the left, but with regard to foliage up front, I was just trying to follow the video. Ended up going in a different direction, though. 😁
