Warm Winter Day

MFrederick 26 Mar 2022

This was my 4th painting since I started last month. I see lots of issues but this was the first one where I thought I was getting somewhere. Learned I needed more dark shadow color behind my bushes and trees and to blend the sky more. But the learning is the fun part, right?

Very nice!

Nice job Matt!

Thank you!!

Wow - 4th painting?? Can't wait to see where you are after 25 or 30 paintings!

Thanks Tony! I’ve done 9 so far now and I’m really proud of how I’m progressing. I learn more with each painting. Normally I see several problems with each one but the last two I did, I would be comfortable giving them as gifts or hanging them on the wall!

I have done 19 paintings so far and you are way ahead of where I am. Keep up the great work. I am excited to see your progression.

Thanks man. Two big things I’ve learned that helped was to always put dark background on all trees and bushes before adding highlights and to use a lighter touch while highlighting and leave some of the shadow show through to create depth. I like what you’ve done and your story about picking up your late fathers art set and starting a new hobby!! Keep it up!
