Winter Sawscape

Mgiese84 25 Oct 2022

I opted against the saw and went for an oval instead πŸ˜‰. I really do like the job Dorothy did on this painting. I think it's quite a pretty scene. Down to 25 Joy of Paintings left.

Thank you Brian. I loved her tree and I tried to replicate it to the best of my ability.

Thanks Alexandria. I was very happy with how this one turned out.

Absolutely stunning. Two questions, 1. How do you uploads come out so hi-res? Professional camera equipment and lighting? It's beautiful. 2. For ages I've been looking for a step-by-step guide on cutting and adhering ovals and would love some words of wisdom from a master like yourself.

Thanks so much Jeff. I take all my photos with my iPhone 12 Pro Max and I try to take them all out in the natural light. Otherwise I have a great spot in my basement where the lighting is great for taking photos like these. As far as the oval is concerned, I had my lady who does all my custom framing cut me out an oval stencil. I draw the oval with pencil using the stencil then I use masking tape to mask it off. I'll upload one with the tape so you can see how I do it.

That’d be great Matt, I have gone away from ovals because of the problems adhering the edges.

I hear ya on that Brian. I'm glad I got away from the contact paper. Even though the masking tape method takes a bit longer I usually get a nice crisp oval when all said and done.

Wow thank you! That picture really helped. I understand much better now. So I suppose a stencil only works with a specific size canvas if you want to be 100% sure that it's centered and level. Bob made it sound so easy, yet everything I find shows otherwise. Thanks again!

Yep you're welcome Jeff

Wow stunning as always if I do this this weekend what should I prep my black canvas with liquid clear the whole thing ? Her saw sounds bone dry.

Thanks much Sherin! She actually uses liquid white. So cover your canvas with liquid white and away you go

Thank you so much!
