Winter Glow

NickReynolds 21 Jan 2023

This one deviates a lot from the original, but this was just one of those paintings where you have to really get creative to salvage some pretty big "happy accidents."

The problems started when I let my evergreens on the right get to big, which made it impossible to stick a barn in front of them and have the scale look right, and then continued with the evergreen tree on the left which got so big that I had to separate it into two layers of big evergreens, and after that I didn't have much room to put a fence in the foreground, so bushes it was.

I may have to revisit this at a later date, because I quite liked the original with it's barn and fence, but I'm happy I at least ended up with a completed painting.

Nice variation of this episode. I especially like the sky.

Yes, totally in agreement with Tim! You blended that sky so well!!! It really does look like a winter hazy sky! It looks really good without the barn & fence tho. Great outcome Nick!

Beautiful job Nick.
