Autumn Splendor

TonyM 02 Mar 2022

Autumn Splendor (s2e5) - Version 2 [Lifetime painting #10]. 16 X 20 canvas board.

Feel free to add any comments that you feel will help me out and please be honest in your assessment. That is the only way I will get better. I have no illusions as to where I stand as a painter at the present time. I know I am way way down looking up at the light. We’ll just take it one ladder rung at a time 🙂 Happy painting everyone. Make someone smile today 🙂

Not much commentary by me here. As with version 1, parts of this I like, parts not so much. I think the birch tree came out a bit better in this version. I probably could have used another background tree on left side. Leaves on trees need a bit more work. In places they just look like splotches on the tree.

Nice. You've gotten better with each painting. One comment I might say is if you want to get a little bit better sense of depth / distance I would make the background trees a little softer / less detailed. I'd also suggest is maybe leave a few more dark / shadow areas on your trees. Lastly, don't forget about your lay of the land. You did a fine job just keep it in mind. Hope this helps and definitely don't take it as criticism. After all it's just my two cents, lol.

Many thanks Matt. Your comments are always welcome and taken as they are meant. Much appreciated bud :)

I think this looks lovely. I love the pond and banks!

Thanks HL3 :)

I see your progress on this one! Great highlights on your trees. Your dirt bank around the water really makes the pond pop. Maybe add some dark background behind your tree leaves. That’ll give you some shadow areas in there. Great job!
