Hidden Stream - 3/28/23

After reading a few internet articles mentioning that this is one of the hardest Bob Ross paintings, I figured I would give it a go. I followed Paul Ranson's tutorial here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_emk8CB7Jps&t=335s

Paul mentions in his tutorial that he actually had to paint this 2 times before he was satisfied.

There is a whole lot of paint layering required in this painting which is a recipe for mud mixing.

Overall, I think it came out decent, but I made enough screw-ups that I am painting this one again immediately. My issues with my results are:

- The left side of the painting should be closer to the bottom of the painting and a bit larger.

- The right side of the painting should be about 2" lower in the painting. The closest foreground area is way too big.

- The skinny tree is about 2" too tall for what I wanted.

_ The large background tree on the right is too full and too dark.

- I will add another layer of clouds in the upper part of the painting and make the sky just a bit darker.

- And last but not least, my issue that I have with all my paintings: DON'T COVER UP ALL THE DARK!!!

Nice

Really nice and serene!

Well done Tony, I especially like that stream coming from the right.

Tony, this looks great! Well done! I wouldn’t worry about where exactly things should go (2” more to the left, 1”more to the bottom, etc). At the end, everything looks where it should be at. Bob says it all the time not to copy but he is teaching us a technique so we can be turned loose!!! It makes you painting similar but very unique at the same time.

Super work as is Tony!
