Blue Ridge Falls

Dan 04 Aug 2019

Really enjoyed painting this one. My first time using black gesso and linseed oil (liquid clear). Don't have liquid clear so I used linseed oil instead, does anyone know if there is a big difference?

I currently use both refined linseed oil or liquid clear. It depends on whether I want to use my limited amount of liquid clear on a particular painting. Overall, it serves the same purpose, but I do think the liquid clear does a 'better' job than the oil alone. It has a different viscosity. It really does resemble thin oil paint, except clear with a slight yellowish tinge. But overall, there really isn't too much of a difference. You just want to ensure you apply a very thin coat.
