Peaceful Valley

DDB 06 Jan 2024

This is my 5th Bob Ross and it was the most challenging so far because of the lack of direction he gives and the video quality. However, I had a great time doing it. Those snowy peaks still give me a really hard time and I am wondering if it is because my titanium white is too old and a bit dried out (this is my theory until I get a new tube and see how that goes ;-P) My favorite part of this painting is how the tree closest to us sneaking onto the canvas turned out on the upper right, I was scared to do it but glad I did. I skipped the dead tree in the front but may return tomorrow and add it in.

Thats a really good one. I like the depth of your painting.

Lots to like on this one DDB. It looks like you may have used very small amounts of paint on the knife for the snow, and applied a fair amount of pressure, kind of scraping down the mountain to get the paint breaks. Would that be correct? The mountains came out looking good. That is a totally valid technique to get the look your mountains have. If you are looking for breaks in a 'deeper' looking snow pack, you will need to use less pressure when applying the paint. I hope this makes sense.

For only 5 paintings in, you are way ahead of where I was at 5 paintings. Nice job.
