Fisherman's Trail - Joy of Painting s28e1

The wood effect background of this one really intrigued me, but I was always apprehensive to give it a shot. Well today was the day. I figured my first attempt would be a total botch job.

I was quite surprised at how easy the background is to create. The wood background took about 15 minutes to create. On a side note, I mixed up way too much brown color, so I prepared 3 more canvases of various sizes for future paintings.

I quickly found that the paint is much wetter after creating this effect, and my best course of action was to let the canvas dry for a couple days, re-apply the liquid clear, and then continue on to create the actual painting.

This was incredibly fun to paint and I can't wait to paint the other 3 canvases I prepared. I am truly experiencing the 'Joy of Painting' lately.

18" x 24" canvas. As always, your comments (especially suggestions) are desired and welcome.

Thanks Dirk and LC.

Awesome job on this one!

The wood looks real and the painting job is great.

Very nice version Tony!

The wood effect came out really good.

I've yet to try it, but I immediately believe that it made the painting much wetter.
Good call on letting it dry a couple of days before tackling the rest.
