Dark Waterfall

joha59 12 Jun 2025

Followed Bob as much as possible but I did the ripples on the water mostly with the knife while Bob did it with the 2 inch brush, I had three linerbrushes and they all refused to load with a sharp point, my liquid black was black paint mixed with linseed oil, on canvasboard of 30 x 24 cm.

Good evening Jos. Super background colors and top waterfall👍🏼🇩🇪🇳🇱

Very pretty Jos. Love the sharp tree limbs.

good job

Outstanding bud✌️

Thank you Dirk, Helen (for those linerbrushes these branches are sharp haha), Rebecca and Brian!

I just love the pastel colors in your sky and background trees ☺️

So beautiful and love the sky and trees!

Agree with Kerri re the pastel background colors that make this one pop. I gave up on natural-bristle liner brushes. I use an inexpensive brush from Michael's with long nylon bristles and clean it periodically using Nancy's recommended process (see forum) with an ethanolamine-based oven cleaner.

Thank you Kerri, Sandy and Jon; Bob painted also blue grass in this episode and Jon: I also use synthetic liner brushes, same problem after a while the brush is splitting, the oven cleaner is not to buy here in NL.

Jos, Gary Jenkins uses baby oil to condition his brushes, could be worth a try. I have Bob Ross conditioner, I've had some success with it but past a certain point It seems to need something more drastic. I love my new liner brush, it's just a cheap-o from the local art store, it works well and I hope it stays that way.
