Lost Lake

Johnsrog 02 Oct 2025

This was done with oils. As usual the hardest part was the mountains. 🏔️ unfortunately I miss judged the size of my canvas (16x20) and ran out of room at the bottom to add Bob’s notorious two large closeup trees. But I’m happy with it being just my 5th painting 🖼️

Most people struggle with mountains, especially when adding snow highlights. Many tend to paint, but only the paint should touch the canvas. The knife should only touch the canvas at the very end. Paying attention to this will help you paint well.
The composition of this piece feels very good. Happy painting!

I like the lacy texture on the foreground trees and bushes
