Cactus at Sunset

joha59 13 Apr 2026

A retry of this wonderful episode. I used a crimson with stronger pigment (W&N artists oil) to get a more reddish glue in the painting. With a cheap synthetic small brush I did the rocks and the cacti, placed the big cactus on the left (yeh as artist you also can move a cactus without hurting yourself LOL) to keep the distant rocks (I added some more) on the right. I didn't want to overpaint the beautiful reflection, so I kept the land very limited, it seems maybe more water then a path as in the original, but it can be an oasis in the desert. On canvas panel of 30 x 24 cm. Used a little bit of linseed oil as basic layer to get in the crimson background color.
