Golden Morning Mist

joha59 19 May 2026

In a previous attempt I had problems with the hard edges of the black gesso and the white sky, I had to use too much paint to get these lines covered, so this time I did the gesso underpainting more natural to make it easier for myself, see second picture. I liked the bright area in the sky and the colors used for the trees and bushes. I did it on wallpaper of 29,7 x 21 cm (A4 format).

It can be hard to get a nice smooth transition from black to white when using gesso, since it dries so fast.
Painting the black like you did now is a good idea.

And I love the final result.

Thank you Titia, good to read you like it!
