Sunset Aglow

Okcnation 02 Oct 2019

18“ x 24“ canvas. This is my second painting using the books and I highly encourage you to do the same. It’s the picture of Bobs painting that I enjoy so much. There are colors and little extra things in the painting that he does not do on the YouTube videos.

Remarkable sky colors! The distant mountain peak helps give a sense of depth and drama. Nice work!

Thank you Drac!!! I am very interested in using contact paper like your last one. Although I’m not wanting an oval but instead one five letter word. I know I’m asking for a lot because you made applying the contact paper seem pretty tough.

Your lighting in the sky looks great. It adds a nice warmth to the painting.

Thank you so much Kelsith! When Bob blends his clouds and then lifts the clouds gently, I always use a blender style brush that has not been used during the painting. I only have one official bob brush its a 2”. I can’t wait to get his blender brushes.

Colors of the sky are absolutely amazing! How did you enjoy 18 by 24"?

I'm happy you like the sky and thank you! 18" x 24" makes your painting better because Im not trying to squeeze everything he does onto the canvas. I still copy Bob to a Tee. I promise I venture off soon

@Okcnation, I'm pretty sure my difficulties applying contact paper are the result of user error on my part. I hope to hear how you get on with it and if you have any advice along the way!

Okcnation, I am on the same path, learning technique how to paint Bob Ross style by copying as much as I can. I tried to do couple of paintings from photos, but that was a struggle. So I need to write my little happy notes how to mix colors and achieve this or that for each season of the year (spring, fall, etc). So, I have my plan developed I bought twenty 16x20" canvas and when I finish them I'll consider myself quite experienced to start doing paintings on my own. What's your plan?

That’s too coincidental! I did 20 paintings until I finally ventured off on my own, the last painting I did Birch snow I added a moon. Now that I finally get a feel for most of what he does I am a lot more satisfied with my paintings now that I added my own touch

Great!
Happy painting to you! And successful way forward!

I love your sky ~~ the composition also gives a great vista feel to the image. love it!

outstanding.

Thank you bee
