Fisherman's Paradise

Voy Kay 22 Jan 2020

41st painting Bob Ross style and really wanted something with quite some buildings in it so had to try this one. Carefully prepared canvas of 16x20 with a black gesso edge, some masking tape and off I went. Nothing was very easy at this painting since all required some attention and carefullness at moments. I liked doing the hedge and the houses although a bit smaller then expected. I can really recommend this painting to everyone, it has fascinating colouring and you can put as much detail and elements in it as you like.
This one took me a full 4 hours but I have to admit, I really took it very slow since I wanted this one to be near perfect and my guess is this 41st painting might be my best one so far. Hope you enjoy this one!!

I think this is a breakthrough painting for you! Beautiful sense of distance and atmosphere. All your dedicated practice looks to be paying off! Great job.

Wonderful! You did amazing job! 4 hours is probably one of the longest hours for a painting, isn't it? I support Dracula it is next step. Well done!

Absolute fantastic!

This is a stunning painting. I agree with the above that this is a breakthrough painting. Hard work pays off! Fantastic colors and sense of distance. I really love the border. I've always wanted to try making the 2 tone border like that. Can you share how you made it? Congrats again!

Dear Dracula, already after 15 minutes, I knew this was going to be a great one, that is why I took my time to avoid spoiling it by haste. Crazy enough, I feel like I hit the ceiling somehow, really doubting if I can maintain this level or even bettering it. I am much more a drawing and writing artist (and a musician!) then an oil painter you know. My family is really wild about it, even my daughter who is my toughest critic! I expect a lot from my next two African paintings which should be painted and published within a week or so. Till soon my friend!!

Dear Sunnylady, if ever I have a loveable fan, you are it!! Happily smiling here now! :) Four hours seems a lot and in fact it is, but I did not want to spoil this one by being hasty. I took it really slow and also, my studio and the cleaning spot for brushes are quite a long distance away from each other, I loose plenty of time cleaning brushes and/or disposing of dirty paper towels. My longest was five hours, but that was that giant painting (Through the window), remember? Till soon my friend!!
