I blocked in the tree with black gesso and let it dry. Once dry I covered the tree area with white gesso and without letting it dry I mixed on canvas Cad yellow light to highlight the back of the tree. the rest is Cad orange with a VERY small touch of Cad Red light.. I then touched up the tree with Chromatic black..
MHK, this looks wonderful! The dimensions of canvas are very unusual! My eye tries to finish the tree, this is first time I have such an effect that I fully understand. But I don't understand what exactly makes me go with this thought.

That sounds great! you can do 3 or 5 canvas painting set to hang on the wall with this size! You even can make something super abstract that way!

I noticed!! Hahaha, well done MHK, glad I was the inspiration to your transpiration. The sky is wonderfully blended with just limited colours. Did you use black gesso up front for the leaves or have you painted them afterwards?
