Oval Essence

I love how the colours pop on these style of paintings. I still struggle with shoreline water. The box still needs a varnish spray coating, and hardware put back on.

Nice painting, as your others! The colors really stand out. Did you prepare the box with a primer, varnish or else before painting?

Does the black background create depth, doesn't it?
For shoreline try to make zigzagging more horizontal , now zigzag is tilted to 45 degrees.
Probably not very clear, huh?
Let me try this way:
Some of the lines in zigzag need to be parallel to the long side of the lid.

I use acrylics and have a very challenging time trying to keep it wet. I painted a black coating first and let it dry...no primer. I Followed Bob on the rest. I use a spray varnish to seal and finish it off because it is a keepsake box and will be handled... I Will try to angle my shore water more across...thank you for the tip..I would have never tried a black background piece had I not seen how to use it from Bob first.!! I appreciate all comments and the feedback. :)
