Quiet Inlet

moai 28 Apr 2020

This one was fun. I painted it on watercolor paper, three sheets thick and combined into one sheet using painters tape. I started with painters tape along the edge and removed it when finished to give me a clean line around the edge. The blue painters tape is painted brown. I messed up a bit, so I just added a large cliff to the foreground

Moai, this one is somehow different from the previous ones. I'd say more organized in colors and composition. Do you like it more or less than previous ones? I keep thinking about color scheme in this painting and Paul Gauguin with his Tahiti paintings. Did you keep anything special in mind while you painted this work?

I was trying to keep the colors more towards green with a splash of yellow and red. I wanted to make this one feel more spring or summer than fall. Sometimes it is hard to separate bushes with close colors without wasting paint.
