Secluded Beach

Steph 30 May 2020

Starting to get into seascapes. I'm having problems being a "mud mixer" on all my paintings. Any tips? Thanks!

Steph, if you have "mud" there may be two solutions:
1. You previous layer of paint is too thick and liquid, so when you go in with your next layer you push a bit harder than needed so they mix together. Either make sure that previous layer is very thin thickness and less oil there. Or apply next layer more gentle with even lighter pressure.
2. Muddy color is not bad color at all. Nature colors all are dulled a bit. Colors are always muted down.

But anyway I do not see any mud in your painting. You did great job on the wave.
Sky is super! Clouds they are never purely white, they have slight peachy tone. Your left part of the sky is amazing!

The hyper-smooth, almost graphic quality to this painting is very cool and easy-to-read. Well done!
