Mountain Lake

doggymommee8301 27 Jun 2020

My fifth ever painting. I really struggled with this. Also, I was out of brown so I had to do a fair amount of mixing. I tried using some cheap oil paint from my local art store. Everything I’ve read is true, the Bob Ross brand paints really are essential to a good Bob Ross painting. Maybe after I’ve got some more experience I can try the cheaper paints again.

A dryer paint does work best. A lot of my Ross oils are too oily and I have to use a paper towel to absorb some of the oil away before using. So frustrating it became I now use Gamblin 1980 a lot.
The paint here looks very wet and thick in places. You might try the towel trick. 😉
Your lake and sky color is great!

Thanks ForestVue! My sister and I did a paint night the other night and there were a few of the paints that were VERY oily. The paper towel trick was quite helpful. Thank you for your feedback.
