It is quite cheap to prepare black canvas yourself. I recall they were like 4 times more expensive than value canvas. Black gesso is only what you need and a sponge from kitchen to apply it to the standard white canvas. Trick - you need to make it quick as it dries fast. If you have wide rubber building knife this is better tool for application as it gave to me more leveled and uniform coverage. Dont use gesso witn you bristle brushes.
