Pastel Seascape

Umagaan 07 Nov 2020

Well, there's almost nothing pastel about this one. I think my canvas was a bit to small for the amount of paint I used and I just couldn't spread the paint enough. I had a lot of difficulties with the clouds, the purple ones are way too dark. I really enjoyed painting the sea - this is my first seascape, so I didn't quite know what to expect - and I especially like the way the foam on the beach looks. I managed to cover the majority of the crasher with dunes, oh well, I'll be more thoughtful next time. All in all I quite like it and am looking forward to painting more seascapes.

This is super, because it is not pastel! It has a lot of character! Congrats with your first seascape. It is success!

Minimum size we discussed here that still works for Bob's tools is 16 by 20 inch. If you go smaller you will want to adjust brushes too.

I think it's very pastelic ! There is a lovely harmony of colors. You did a good job. This one is very challenging on the sky...not easy. It is hard to fit everything on a small canvas. Planning the perspective helps.

Exactly patriziad, I find these clouds so very difficult to paint. I decided that I'll practice painting clouds and once I'll really get the hang of it I'll paint this one again - on a bigger canvas 😁
