New Day's Dawn

I liked this one. I like my fences and my cabin. My grass could be better and I thought the background was just okay. I like my evergreens and I really like making foliage with the oval brush.

The back fence really goes into nowhere. The sky blending gives it something peaceful and you did wonders with that house!

This is very nice. Your work with the oval brush is working really well. I can only manage to get my oval brush to make half moon shapes, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Great work with this one. I've always loved the hazy early morning paintings Bob made. Like you mentioned, I also really like making foliage with the oval brush. Lately, my go-to has been the half-size round brush, using just the tips. I also have a bit of difficulty with making grass. Bob makes it look so easy on the show! Having said that, there are multiple very striking and impressive aspects to this piece of work - the beautiful glow in the sky, the evergreens, distant trees, fence fading back into nothing, and those trees on the right. I think you captured that highlighting very well. Great job all around!

Thanks so much for those kind words and support! As far as the oval brush, I did as Bob instructed. I swipe it through the paint on both sides the hold the brush at about at 45° angle and push the tips into the paint. Kind of a tap but just the tips. It kinda keeps the bristles separated so you don’t get that “half-moon” effect. Hope this helps TheLandscapePainter!

Thank you for the advice Officerharbin, I will enjoy trying again.

This is awesome!
