An Arctic Winter Day

This is my first dabble with oils!

Oils

Comments

Oils are a tricky created to tame in my experience and I’m still learning, great for having a go.
You have some nice colours doing on here.
A tip which I was also struggling with is the horizon, trying to imagine that line, if your waterline is straight it often really helps.
Did you try the mountains with the palette knife?
I can’t get the hang of the knife with the light and shade, so I check out everyone’s mountains to see how they achieved their effects :)
I hope you enjoyed working with oils, and that you are planning more artworks soon!

I did use a palette knife for the mountains. I used quite a lot of paint and it turned out very textural, quite unlike Bob's! I need more practise on the very important blending.
