Graceful Waterfall

LoriEC 02 Jan 2021

Today’s effort was a bit more difficult. I like the top but the bottom gave me trouble. Had to make my lower rocks taller to cover up what I didn’t like. In the end I guess it turned out ok. Not sure about the two bushes on the left. It needed something but I’m not sure that was the best choice.

Is not bad looks good

The waterfall at the back is lovely, really like the foamy water spray gathering there and your tall trees, really give a sense of just how high that water is.

This is next on my to do list! You did a wonderful job in my opinion! I struggle with the bushes the most. I can only hope to do as well as you did here.. great work!

What strikes me are your trees at the top of the waterfall. With the sky behind them and the spacing they're very realistic. When Bob is making trees he instructs us to put in the dark all the way up, but here it really gives a different (and better) sense of depth, IMO.

Even though it is dense forest, I try to allow bits of light. As I'm learning to paint and compose I feel the light is as important to show the dark (or dense) as the dark is to show the light. Just my interpretation. I think this may be my favorite type of painting. It amazes me how it works. I very much appreciate your insight.
