That Time of Year

Not crazy about my reflections but overall pretty happy with this one. Still trying to figure out clouds but I like my foliage and my birch trees.

Your birches look very nice! I like how gentle they are. Very enjoyable warm painting!

This is a wonderful composition! The darker shades and colors fully add value to the ambience which is normally daytime but here, it's dusk or dawn.
A+++ painting!

I agree with sunny. I love those trees. I struggled a long time with clouds but I find them a lot easier now that I use the blender brush to blend them out instead of the 2" or 1". Also, is your canvas a bit on the toothy side? Some of mine are and I make better clouds and reflections on a smoother canvas. In one of his videos Bob said he likes a smooth canvas and I'm starting to think it's the right thing to use for this technique. I'm now adding a coat of gesso as advised by Sunnylady, to the canvas before I start my painting until my toothy canvases are used up. My next painting is going to have a massive sky so I will have to practice what I preach! Hope that helps.
