This was my first 'Bob' and it well and truly got me hooked. OK, I wimped out on putting the foreground trees in but now that I have had a bit of practice with this techniques I am going to go back and put them in. Question: do I just paint straight onto dry paint surface or is there a better way to do it?

Beautiful Lindsay, yes putting those big ole foreground trees in can be scary but you should go for it, maybe put a little linseed oil on your brush if the canvas has dried
Fantastic first Bob! wonderful all round, great water and reflections, beautiful tree bark too, really nice depth.
