Mountain Waterfall

Umagaan 16 Jan 2021

I wanted to paint something simple with mountains and I thought this will be easy. Well, I was wrong and this was not an easy one. There are so many details to work on and pay attention to. The clouds in the sky, the clouds in front of the mountain, the little trees that climb up the mountain, the waterfall... It was very time consuming and in the end I was running out of time to really concentrate on the foreground so the evergreens and front trees were done in a bit of a hurry. I put my titanium white on a cardboard to dry and it really paid off, it was much easier to put snow on the mountains and it also helped with painting the clouds. The grassy areas turned into a bit of a mud mixer, I'll really need to work on those. I was thinking of leaving the waterfall out because there was so much paint on the canvas already, but in the end I think it turned out ok and it adds a bit of action to the left side of the painting. All in all I think it's an ok painting.
