I tried to paint the mountain but wanted to play with different colors for the sky. I am not in love with the reflections on the right or the smaller ridge. I wanted something more in the foreground than was on the original so I added a few things to hopefully give it dimension.

Thank you both and yes I completely agree. It looks too uniform with the trees. I was letting a friend paint with me and she had my good fan brush. I was freaking out a little that they weren’t going down like I wanted and just kept throwing them on there! I should have took a breather and waited for my good brush 😅
Haha! Sometimes its really hard to put the brush down!! I have that with every painting i do

This is a really beautiful painting! I wish you had made your trees a little more irregular however- that would have really added to the foreground and possibly given a touch more dimension. I think your background is stunning- I really get a warm feel from it- and the reflections in the lake give this painting a real serene look. Well done!
