Mountain at Sunset

LCLeonard 03 Feb 2021

Pleasantly surprised with this one. I messed up from the getgo by not using liquid clear - had already prepped my canvas with liquid white before playing episode (oops). But it still turned out really nice. I was hoping for more vibrant colors in the sky, probably an issue due to liquid white instead. Also used foliage brush on the trees and grass for first time - not sure if I did it correctly :) having fun with this! I think I’ll do again with liquid clear just to see the difference

Hi LC, nice painting but may i ask why you might use liquid clear on top of liquid white?

Oh it was just different from what bob did. I prepped my canvas with liquid white accidentally, so I just rolled with it. I actually have never used liquid clear, so i don’t know a lot of what it does. He says something about it keeping the colors more opaque, brighter, and separated. Anyone else have any ideas?

If you use liquid white the other paints mix with it and become lighter, they dilute. If you use the liquid clear the color does not change. In general it results in brighter, deeper colors.
