Blue Moon

On stretched canvas 24x30 cm Winton oil. Tried this one without basic layer of liquid clear (linseed oil). Better mixing is possible, but surface is very dry ...

Did you like it more or less to paint without linseed oil in the base? Did I ever mention that a trick to apply thin color as underpainting is to dip brush in turpentine and then in the paint, after underpainting is done let it dry for 30 min to evaporate solvent and you are left with nice and thin layer of paint you can build your upper layers. This will absolutely allow to follow fat over lean rule.

This painting was finally too dry, so next time with oil again, or following your advice to use turpentine, did not know this was also an option, thanks Sunnylady!
