Quiet Inlet

Umagaan 02 May 2021

I wanted to paint this one for quite some time. So today was the day. I have to say it wasn't nearly as easy as I tought it woul be. Well, the sky was easy. But from then on.... I had trouble mixing the right colors. My purple was first too blue, then too red... Now I have a huge pile of unused purple. I fiddled to death with the mountains. Reshaped them a hundred times. Mixed another huge pile of paint trying to get the right green for the background trees. I learned that mixing purple and sap green gives you gray. No comment. Painting all the little trees and trying to make them individuals was quite a challenge. The big tree... The highlights aren't perfect, but oh well. I think I need more practice with the oval brush. Loved painting the water and the waves. Really like the result. It was well worth getting up early 😁
